Ann Arbor, MI

The G-Men (or Gentlemen for long) are the premier all-male a cappella group at the University of Michigan. They are known for their massive triceps, fanatical obsession with guppies, and for rocking audiences with the power of 100 raging Mark Ruffalos.

Do I have to be a music major?

Absolutely not! We currently have two music majors in the group. The rest of our members are pursuing majors in a variety of fields, including computer science, aerospace engineering, architecture, organizational studies and chemistry

What is the time commitment?

We rehearse three times a week, twice for 2.5 hours and once for 2 hours. We also regularly have gigs both in the Ann Arbor area and across the nation. We put on concerts in the fall and spring semesters, as well as a variety show during Parent's Weekend in the fall. We spend plenty of time together and we love every minute of it!

Yes! Every spring break, we go on TOUR. Check out the tour blog to learn about the 2018 Midwest tour! We also travel to colleges and cities around the country to perform. In recent years, we've traveled to Notre Dame, the University of Virginia, San Francisco and the University of North Carolina.

Do you travel?

Auditions normally take place at the beginning of each fall semester. Be on the lookout on our Facebook page and website for specific dates, times and location. Also, be sure to go to Acarush and come meet us at Festifall, which are both held at the beginning of each fall term. At Acarush, every a cappella group at Michigan will perform and stick around for questions and audition sign ups! If you have any further questions please contact our music director, Nick Froelich at

When are auditions held?

You will be asked to demonstrate your vocal range in a warm up and sing a verse and a chorus of a song of your choosing (classical discouraged). There will also be optional sight reading, but no sight reading or previous music experience is necessary! Auditions can be stressful but we do our best to make it a fun experience and give you the opportunity to showcase your talents :)
