DAY 4/5

Hilton Head Island, SC

Monday, March 2 and Tuesday, March 3

Two-parter today the weather was too nice to be writing this. Only Jordan reads this anyway.

The boys got off to an earlier start Monday as our hosts had class in the morning. Some of us hit the library to get some work done and others grabbed some food before heading off for Hilton Head Island.

The short 2.5 hour hop included a stop at a local thrift store, where good pickups were made including a “real” jade chain and an egg carton of golf balls. We were offered a volunteer job at the shop but unfortunately had to decline due to school starting up in a week.

When we arrived at Hilton Head Island, it was a magnificent 65 degrees without a cloud in the sky. We stopped by a Publix to pick up food for the next two days and played a quick game of tackle football in the parking lot. Upon arrival, we cooked up a meal of grilled steak, oven-baked potato wedges and a mushroom onion sauté. Slapped would be an understatement. Ajay would like to reassure his mother that had had adequate vegetarian options. The G stands for Gourmet.

After dinner, we hit the beach for a lil midnight adventure. You won’t believe this, but we saw a UFO in the sky, which is not surprising given our proximity to Area 51. Upon further inspection and consultation from the National UFO Reporting Center, it was determined that the UFO was Brian’s light up frisbee… what a bummer!

Tuesday morning, Ajay, TJ and I got up early to bike around the island. We took the long path to Harbour Town, taking us on the beach and through the gated Sea Pines community (don’t snitch). We biked about 15 miles and encountered a friendly group of visitors from Cleveland whose favorite a cappella group was Straight No Chaser. Lol.

Tuesday afternoon brought us to the apex of G-Men existence: the basketball court. An intense 4v4 match ensued with the team of me, Ajay, Adreesh and Tiger edging Spencer, David, TJ, Ian and Nick by a score of 15-13. March Madness has officially begun.

CLUCK CLUCK. Adreesh and I fried up some chicken for dinner. Popeyes ain’t got nothing on us. Chicken marinated overnight in buttermilk, coated with flour and spices and fried at 350 until golden brown. Brioche Buns. Sauce. Pickles. The frying oil is still sitting on the stove as I write this and we have no idea what to do with it.

Thus concludes an epic two nights on Hilton Head Island. Huge shoutout to our Airbnb host, David, for being awesome and letting us rent his place. We even learned a new song which will make its debut at the concert, [redacted] by [redacted]. More to come, Atlanta on the clock.
