Day 1

IT’S SPRING TOUR BABY!!! G-reeting G’s, G-amilies, G-lumni, and other G-orespondants. My name is Michael Riccinto and I’ll be taking over the tour blog for this first leg of tour. We’ve got some great events lined up with some awesome groups in the next week, so there will be no shortage of updates to provide to our loyal fans.

First a little background on these tour blogs for anyone passing through these blogs for the first time: The G’s go on a spring tour around lots of cities and college campuses every year. These blogs serve as both a way for us to document our adventures, and for our audience and close friends to get a “behind the scenes” look into what being in G-Men is all about. Shout out Coach for starting this tradition – the youngbloods know what’s up. Mad respect.

And now a little about myself – as stated before my name is Michael and I’m a freshman in the group. Having gone to high school in Ann Arbor, I’ve been a long time fan of the G-Men and I’m truly living out my dream being in this group. Now for some tour updates:

The first batch of fellas left last night and got to Chirp’s house around 12. Frank, Ryan and I munched on some Popeyes on the way over. We also came across what I can only assume is the world’s smallest pizza hut.

In an attempt to adhere to the tradition of hourly’s on the road, I instituted a mandatory instance of “Big Iron” coming on the radio at the top of every hour.

The G’s were immediately enamored by Chirp’s finished basement. Seriously guys – this place is nuts. L shaped couch, ping pong table, mini hoop, mounted tv, whole 9 yards. The boys unwinded with some jackbox games and basement dodgeball. Ashton and I took on Charlie (chirp), Frank (fronk), and Ryan (ry guy). Ashton was immediately eliminated which left ya boy in a 1v3 scenario. I masterfully pieced them boys apart and walked away with the dub. They ain’t got nun on me – I own them now. Their wish is my command. This wrapped up our first night at chirp’s crib.

The following morning, G-Spirits were high. In anticipation of an ICHSA hosting gig that night, the boys geared up with a crazy breakfast spread. Chirp’s parents really took good care of us on this tour so far man — shout out for the crazy spreads and generous accommodations. I had a salmon bagel this morning. Smoked, even. The last time I ate that was at a resort in Orlando (I think). Top notch selection of fruit here too. 5/5 stars.

I’ve seen in the 2018-19 that them boys was always hoopin. Keeping with that tradition, the fellas ran some 2v2 in Chirp’s driveway. Despite my best efforts, Chirp’s home field advantage showed and he and Adrew took Ashton and I down in the first game. The second game was a truly revolutionary performance. Andrew and I wiped Ry guy and Chirp 10-2 in a performance that can only be described as sensational. You should of seen the way this kid Andrew was moving.

This kid is special. Really under appreciated. We’re talkin about a guy here who could be the face of this league wants he sements himself as a vet. Really big things coming from this kid – keep an eye on him. Don’t worry though, I showed em why I was the captain of my middle basketball team by putting up some deep threes and putting my “jelly” layup package on full display. Fair play to Chirp and Ry guy. Not much they could do there.

Chirp’s dad cooked up cheffed up some pork stakes for us as well as some burgers. Really setting the bar high for our future hosts. After this some of the fellas jammed out on the guitar. We’re big fans of Noah Kahan, the “A Star is Born” sound track, and Playboi Carti. After this we hopped in the car and headed to host and ICHSA at Chirp’s old stomping grounds.

After an ELECTRIC sound check, the G’s tried a Chicago staple – Portillos. I managed to make my way through the chocolate cake shake but it was pretty rough. I’m told that’s what they’re known for. After this, we had a rockin deliberation set that had the audience BUZZIN. Seriously – they were hootin’ and hollerin’. The boys are true entertainers at heart – and that was on full display.

That pretty much catches us up to right now. We’re back at Chirp’s house enjoying some Cane’s, laughs, and overall good vibes. Pushing sleeps soon for sure – UIUC tomorrow.

This blog was a little long because it covered a day and a half or so – expect daily updates from now on towards the end of the day.

I’m signing out now – looking forward to keeping you guys updated throughout this week.
