DAY 2

Knoxville, TN

Saturday, February 29

First, a poem by David:

A cold car, filled to the brim

Music blares, snacks within

Wheel in hand, we ride along

big baller brand, brothers in song

The morning started with a trip to the cafeteria or CAF, where the Acabelles treated us to a hearty breakfast fit for a long night of activities.

Then, it was time to get some work in. We paid a visit to Xavier’s brand new gym and got some hoop and lift in. Nick, TJ, Spencer and I played some intense pickup games and crossed up so many Xavier students that we were kicked out and told never to come back. I also did a 360 tomahawk dunk (see below).

Next, it was on to Knoxville. The drive through the Appalachian Mountains was filled with scenic valleys, intense road trip games and Spencer telling me to change the car audio to “driver mode” after I started playing NPR’s Planet Money podcast. Ay respect NPR though. Upon arrival, we met up with VOLT, a co-ed a cappella group at the University of Tennessee, who welcomed us and took us to a poppin Mexican restaurant where the portion sizes did not play.

The night continued with a gathering that turned into a mini concert for the ages. VOLT shared 3 of their songs from their moving gun-violence themed ICCA set that hit all the right feels. We shared some tour classics, with Tiger stealing the show with his epic performance of Slow Dancing In The Dark. The vibe was excellent and VOLT were some of the best hosts we’ve encountered in recent tour history.

Goodnight, Ajay and I are getting up to do homework in the morning, #TheMichiganDifference
