DAY 7

Johnson City, TN

Thursday, March 5

* apologies for the lack of pics today, I’m a dummy.

Thanks for all of your prayers yesterday. David’s car was fixed this morning and we were all back on the road to our next destination, Johnson City, Tennessee.

However, David’s car can’t catch a break. On the way to Johnson City, a tire blew after running over an unidentified impediment. After a quick call to AAA, they were back on the road. David’s car is an absolute warrior.

Upon arrival, we pulled up to East Tennessee State University and met our hosts for the next 2 days, Ascension and Greyscale, two co-ed a cappella groups from ETSU. We first watched Greyscale perform their ICCA set and wow, the south semifinal better watch out. Their jazzy rendition of “Another Day Of Sun” from La La Land was awesome. Best of luck to them at Semis!

Then, we all met up at the Johnson City Mall for a quick dinner and hangout. We were advised that we couldn’t visit the south without trying Pals, which as an Ascension member put it was “a heart attack that makes you feel good”. He wasn’t wrong. After dinner, Spencer, Thomas from Ascension and I had an impromptu putting competition at Dick’s Sporting Goods. Thomas and I tied at even par and Spencer lost after missing a 3 footer.

Before the evening activities, we found a hoop court (what’s new) and played a little 3v3. Nick went absolute bananas the first game, hitting 5 threes including one from Curry range.

We then joined the groups for a little bowling. My Jason Belmonte inspired style didn’t do me too well today but you can’t beat $5 unlimited bowling WITH shoe rental included.

Ian, Nick, Adreesh and I were hosted by Bailey, a member of Ascension. Her dog, Valen, is really awesome and adorable. Here is Ian and Valen.

it’s been a long trip so far but one thing is certain: people in the south are ridiculously nice. Take notes everyone else.
