DAY 8/9/10

Ann Arbor, MI

Sunday, March 8

My bad. Got a little lazy/tired/had an assignment due the Sunday before class started. It’s been a heck of a tour, let’s recap the last couple days.

As the sun shone on the mountains above Johnson City, The G-Men arose from a deep slumber to a glorious morning. We were glad to not have any long driving to do today, just a charity concert to look forward to in the evening.

Breakfast was served at a local First Watch, which turned out to be one of the best breakfast joints we’ve visited in awhile. Spencer and Ian somehow convinced the staff that The G-Men were a soccer team and received training tips from the waitress, who turned out to be a personal trainer. The food was superb and don’t tell me this isn’t one of the prettiest hot chocolates you’ve seen.

After breakfast, there was some downtime. With what has become a reoccurring theme, Spencer, Nick, David and I went to the campus gym while the others rested up in the library. David got the pump in and Nick, Spencer and I played some southern phenoms in basketball. Those dudes were pulling and hitting from Curry range, it was insane. After our free time, we joined the ETSU Swashbucklers for rehearsal and shared some tunes. Their sound was awesome and their performance had the perfect amount of southern charm. Check out their Facebook page!

Friday evening was capped off with the first and only concert performance of tour, a charity concert held by the ETSU music department for the local humane society. We shared the stage with the other a cappella groups at ETSU as well as string quartets, piano soloists and even a bluegrass band. It was an awesome event for a good cause and we were happy to be performing! Warm ups were held in the bathroom and not sure that guy was vibing with what he was walking into.

The next morning, it was off to our final tour stop, Indiana University. This was also the longest single drive of tour, clocking in at just over 7 hours. After huddling up at the local Mickey Ds, it was off to Bloomington. Upon arrival, we were all hungry and craving some Chinese food. Luckily, we found an awesome hole in the wall joint and feasted on authentic Chinese specialties (aka I order everything and we share). After dinner, we went to a local ice cream parlor. Adreesh loved his ice cream.

Saturday night ended with an eventful get together with our host group, Resting Pitch Face. We shared some tunes and met a lot of awesome people in the IU a cappella community. Enjoy these beautiful pics from that evening.

And it is upon us. Sunday, the final day of tour. The cars were loaded, gas tanks were filled and the boys were off to their final destination, Ann Arbor, Michigan. After one last 5 hour chug, the final trip counter was… pretty incredible.

After 10 days of bonding and adventure, it was back to reality. I just submitted an assignment at 11:50 that was due at midnight. We’re back on the grind tomorrow preparing for our 25th anniversary concert in less than 2 weeks, see y’all there!

For me, Adreesh and David, this was our final tour with the Gs and it was honestly one of the best weeks I’ve had as an undergrad. These guys will be my brothers forever and I’m grateful that all of them are in my life :) No clue if any of them are going to continue this next year, maybe I’ll write it remotely. Sikeeeeeeeee I’m outta here
