Day 4

Storrs, CT

Wednesday, March 1

UCONNNNNNN!!! After a short drive from Boston to Storrs, we met up with some members of Rubyfruit a cappella from the University of Connecticut. They took us to the UConn dairy bar where the ice cream was outstanding and they had a fun little husky head cutout. Some of the other G’s went on a quick hike and found a frozen lake to throw logs on. We then went to Willington’s pizza where the G-Men and Rubyfruit went for dinner and to meet each other.

After dinner, the G’s, Ruby’s, and CDN all met for a joint rehearsal. Completely Different Note (CDN) is an all lower-voice a cappella group at UConn and they were total chillers. Every group sang a few songs for each other and we did our ICCA set. We were told to do it with choreo and hopefully you can see in the photos that there was not a very big space to do all that dancing. You can imagine how that went…

To end rehearsal we did a really fun arrangement swap. Rubyfruit's sang CDN’s arrangement of Stevie Wonder’s “I Wish”, CDN sang the G-Men’s arrangement of Justin Bieber’s “Somebody to Love”, and the G-Men sang Rubyfruit’s arrangement of Bonnie Tyler’s “Holding out for a Hero”. It was an SSAA arrangement, so it was really high. You can also imagine how that went…

After rehearsal we went to Huskies Tavern for an LGBTQ+ night where we went and partied with the other two groups. We had a fun time and some of us went back to the CDN house after to just hang out for a little bit. We want to thank members of both Rubyfruit and CDN for hosting us for the night and making this tour possible for us! We left early in the morning for Temple University in Philadelphia. I’ll talk to you all tomorrow for the next blog.
