Day 6

Williamsburg, VA

February 29th, 2024

Happy Leap Day everyone! With that in mind, the G-Men leaped into another great day of tour! (Forgive me, I know that one was bad.)

We started off by saying a sweet goodbye to our beloved BnB in Outer Banks :( Big thank you Ashley for being a great host! Then, off to Williamsburg! A few members stopped to get Duck Donuts on the way, but all cars ended up reaching Williamsburg at around the same time for the first time (which is a miracle). We dropped into the student center to kill some time before the festivities later. And Sam spilled his water bottle… back at it with the freshman activities. He was supposed to be the best of you all… smh.

We met up with Leo’s hometown friend, Sarah, and she gave us an AMAZING tour of Colonial Williamsburg! We saw a horse-drawn carriage, talked to some of the re-enactors, tried out the pillory, and visited some historic buildings. Did you know Thomas Jefferson, James Monroe and John Tyler once walked these halls? We can include George Washington too (on a technicality) because it sounds cooler to use his name for clout. We also saw some sheep, which Chirp was ecstatic about because sheep are his favorite animal.

All that walking kind of tired us out, so we went back to the student center to rest before heading to “The Brothel” to rehearse with the Stairwells! For clarification, that is the name of their house, not an actual brothel… hardcore G-Men followers will find this concept familiar. We did a few warm ups together, and then did an arrangement swap. We got to sing their rendition of “Trap Queen” by Fetty Wap, and they took on our arrangement of “I2I” by Tevin Campbell (from the Goofy Movie, if you’re into the hardcore lore.) They surprised us by mashing up “I2I” into “Boy’s a liar Pt. 2” by PinkPantheress and Ice Spice - so electric.

Side note: if you recall yesterday’s post, I made a joke about the devious G-Man who wreaked havoc on our plumbing, and alluded to said person as “rhyming with Bowen” as a joke. Turns out, the first member of the Stairwells that I met was actually named Bowen. Like Bowen is a real name. So for sake of clarification, I was referring to Owen in yesterday’s blog post, not Bowen from the Stairwells. I said I wasn’t gonna name names, but here I am, my integrity is gone, sue me.

We then went back to Sarah’s to drop off our stuff, and then back to “The Brothel” to party with a few of the other groups from William and Mary! CRAZY function, we ended up all performing for each other at some point (kind of like a real-life version of the riff-off from Pitch Perfect). Everyone had so much fun! Specifically Owen.

Big thank you to the Stairwells for helping us put this whole thing together, rehearsing with us, and hosting some of our members!

Additionally, another big thank you to our tour guide Sarah and her roommates Lucy, Stella, and Disha for also being such great hosts!

Gotta catch my breath after all that… looking forward to some sleep. See you all tomorrow!
