Day 8 & 9

Rochester, NY

March 2 & 3, 2024

The last one.

Thank you to all who have been following this journey, hoping to cement this blog into tradition!

After an epic night watching Dune, we made our way through the foggy Pennsylvania landscape to Rochester, NY! My car stopped at a small, local restaurant in Blossburg, it was pretty fire. I decided to include this photo in the blog because the sexual tension in this photo was just too hard to ignore.

Upon arrival, we met up with the Yellowjackets, and let me just say, straight chillers. We ended up rehearsing with them in a giant auditorium, trading some warm ups, performing a few songs for them, and then doing an arrangement swap! We gave them “Blow” by Kesha and they gave us “Larger Than Life” by the Backstreet Boys, and if I may I add, what a fun song and epic arrangement. We decided to perform each song together, and with the combined awesome power of the G-Men and Yellowjackets united, we shook river campus to its core. Owen and Duc also had the same shoes. Right after that photo was taken, Duc casually dropped maybe the most fire solo in all of tour, seriously so slick with it.

Then we grabbed some dinner - a Rochester staple called a “garbage plate.” Literally I think you just put a bunch of stuff on a plate and cover it in meat sauce and onions and condiments and then eat it. I was definitely skeptical (and concerned what it would do to my body) but it was actually pretty good. After that, we went to a small performance called NJR (No Jackets Required) which conveniently was located in the Gowen room. With all of these Owens and Bowens and Gowens I can’t seem to keep my head on straight. It was kind of a “battle of the bands” situation where different student bands would switch off performing, super cool venue.

After that, the G’s headed back with the Yellowjackets, while Frank went out on his own venture to conquer RIT with his friend or something. We don’t really know, we just woke up and he was on a different campus. Sam found a sign he really liked [redacted], and I met up with one of my hometown friends and explored some of scene in downtown Rochester. It was the perfect way to wrap up our tour! Big thank you to all of the Yellowjackets for hosting us and providing us the premium Rochester experience!

The last day was one long drive back home to good ol’ Ann Arbor. Stopped at a Dunkin to recap before heading out. I made fun of Luke and Brett the entire trip just to be pulled over on this last leg… karma. Anyways, Andrew got to try Canes for the first time so at least something good came out of it. Some of the guys stopped on the way back to support their favorite football team, the Detroit Lions! Go Lions!

As a graduating senior, this is my last tour! Thank you to all of the G’s for a great spring break, all of the groups for hosting us, and all of the friends we made along the way! Also huge huge huge thank you to Andrew for providing some high quality pics, seriously you really stepped up our photo game. I’m honored to have kept this blog alive and am excited to look back on these memories fondly - future G’s, keep tour blog alive!

With love, the power of 100 Raging Buffalo, and Mark Ruffalo,

Max Crandell, #28
